On January 20, Zhao Zenglian, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China(GACC), met with Nelson Cordovés Reyes, Head of the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba, and his delegation at the GACC headquarters. Focusing on implementing the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state, the two sides exchanged views on establishing a "Smart Customs" cooperation partnership, advancing mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operators (AEO), strengthening mutual administrative assistance in law enforcement, promoting the application of innovative regulatory technologies, enhancing capacity building, and advancing customs cooperation on food safety under the Belt and Road Initiative. The two sides also signed a customs cooperation document. Alberto Blanco Silva, Ambassador of Cuba to China, attended the meeting.
