Xiamen Customs and Durban Customs Sign Cooperation Arrangement
On June 13, Zhu Guangyao, Director General of Xiamen Customs, and Beyers Theron, Director of Customs and Excise Border Operations of SARS , Ports of Entry and Customs Compliance, signed COOPERATION ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN XIAMEN CUSTOMS DISTRICT OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA AND DURBAN CUSTOMS BRANCH OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN REVENUE SERVICE via virtual ceremony.
This Arrangement represents a milestone outcome in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and South African Revenue Service on Strengthening Cooperation in Supply Chain Connectivity. It designates both parties as Smart Customs partners committed to jointly researching and actualizing the shared vision of Smart Customs cooperation — aligned with China Customs' "Smart Customs, Smart Borders and Smart Connectivity" initiative and SARS' "a smart modern SARS with unquestionable integrity, trusted and admired" strategy. The document specifies the scope of application, objectives, cooperative fields, and modalities of collaboration.
Pursuant to this Arrangement, the two administrations will collaborate across five key domains: Smart and Secure Trade Lanes (SSTL), joint enforcement operations, capacity building, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program, and Smart Customs and international trade "Single Window." These efforts aim to continuously enhance cross-border trade facilitation, impart new momentum to bilateral economic and trade exchanges, and deliver practical models for deepening Greater BRICS Cooperation.
